How to Support Small Business Saturday in Costa Mesa

Small Business Saturday is one of my favorite days of the year—not just because I’m a lifelong Costa Mesa local, but because this community thrives on small businesses, family-run shops, and the incredible people behind them. Supporting local isn’t just a feel-good moment… it’s part of what makes neighborhoods like Mesa Verde, Eastside Costa Mesa, and the Westside such special places to call home.

If you’re looking for ways to support our small businesses this weekend, here are some easy (and fun!) ways to show love here in Costa Mesa.

1. Start Your Morning at a Local Coffee Shop

We’re spoiled with great coffee in Costa Mesa. Instead of hitting a chain, swing by:

  • Neat Coffee – bright, welcoming, community-focused

  • MoonGoat Coffee – a local favorite with killer cold brew

  • Nüdae Coffee – for clean vibes and quality beans

  • Better Buzz (just nearby!) – always a go-to

Buying a latte from a small shop means you’re supporting a local family or entrepreneur—many of whom live right in the neighborhoods I help people buy and sell in.

2. Shop Local for Holiday Gifts

Costa Mesa has some of the best boutiques and specialty stores in Orange County. Check out:

  • The LAB & The CAMP – endless options for handmade goods, clothing, home decor, and unique finds

Local shopping keeps money circulating within our community—and increases the charm of our vibrant Costa Mesa neighborhoods.

3. Grab Lunch or Dinner at a Costa Mesa Favorite

Instead of the typical chain restaurant, try one of our beloved small eateries:

  • Descanso – amazing modern Mexican and great atmosphere

  • 2145 Pizza – perfect for families or casual nights out

  • Pitfire Pizza – close to Mesa Verde

  • Fermentation Farm – healthy, local, and delicious

  • Playa Mesa – always a hot spot

Supporting local restaurants helps keep our food scene thriving—and it’s one of the reasons buyers love Costa Mesa’s energy and convenience.

4. Share on Social Media

A quick post, tag, or review goes a long way.Snap a photo, tag the business, and use hashtags like:

More visibility = more customers = stronger community.

5. Buy Gift Cards for Future Visits

If you don’t need anything today, grab a gift card to use later. It gives local shops cash flow (which is huge for small businesses) and gives you something to look forward to.

6. Attend Local Markets & Pop-Ups

Costa Mesa hosts so many great markets, makers fairs, and events throughout the holidays. These events are packed with local artisans—from jewelry to pastries to home goods. Strolling through these markets is a great way to support multiple small businesses in one spot.

7. Hire Local Services

Whether it’s:

  • a local fitness studio,

  • a family-owned repair shop,

  • a Costa Mesa hairstylist,

  • or a neighborhood photographer,

Think local before you book elsewhere. These are the people who help make Mesa Verde, Freedom Homes, Westside Costa Mesa, and Eastside Costa Mesa feel like home.

Why Small Business Saturday Matters to Costa Mesa Real Estate

As someone who grew up here and now works as a Costa Mesa Realtor, I’ve seen firsthand how strong small businesses help build strong communities. Buyers choose neighborhoods like Mesa Verde and Westside Costa Mesa because of the walkable cafes, friendly shop owners, and family-focused atmosphere.

Supporting small businesses isn’t just great for the local economy—it also strengthens the fabric of our neighborhoods and helps maintain the character that makes people want to put down roots here.

When local businesses thrive, so does Costa Mesa real estate.
